Chris is unique. That is why I started this blog about him. Many cats like attention but not many cats demand it as much as Chris does. And no cat that I have ever seen, other that Chris, wants to be hugged.
Maybe I’m wrong. Does your cat ever want to be hugged?
By the way, pay no attention to my disheveled hair and ugly glasses. I actually clean up nicer than that when I go out.
It has been a while since I let Frankie and Chris go outside because it has been so hot. I decided to get out with them very early on Friday before the outside oven was set to broil.
Frankie, for some reason, always seems very interested in plants.
I usually like to limit my Photo Friday Posts to one photo but sometimes more photos are needed to tell a story.
For example, this group of photos illustrates how Frankie’s initial curiosity . . .
. . . turned into a full fledged obsession with these plants.
Does anyone know what these plants are? I know Frankie seems to take an interest in several different kinds of plants but I don’t know if they have something in common that attracts cats.
This was supposed to be last week’s post but I just realized I accidently published it as a page instead of a post. Oops.
I used to write about How Chris would manage to get up into almost impossible locations in our house (see here and here and here). Now he is more than ten years old and a few pounds heavier than he used to be. He also seems to have developed a bit of arthritis. Lately, I have to help him onto my lap sometimes.
Chris may be somewhat grounded but Frankie hasn’t lost a step. He is now going places that only Chris would have gone before.
Here he is on top of our cabinet. The height of the jump isn’t as impressive as the accuracy needed since it is a very narrow space and it seems like it would be easy to bang your head on the ceiling.
Frankie ran out the door last week when I opened it for the UPS guy. At first he stayed close and dared me to catch him. He even stuck his tongue out at me as if he thought he couldn’t be caught. He was right.

I put my phone away and casually walked towared Frankie but he darted off and dissapeared. I decided to wait for him outside so I let Chris out and the two of us waited together.

Since it was hot outside we only lasted about fifteen minutes. I then brought Chris in and walked around looking for Frankie with no luck. I gave up after thirty minutes had gone by. Ten minutes after that Frankie was outside the door panting and wanting to come in.
When I fould the photo for last week’s Photo Friday post, I also came across another photo of Tigger, Chris, and Abbey, but this one is dated a year earlier, May 07, 2010.
L-R – Tigger, Chris and Abbey
Chris is on my lap now but ten minutes ago he had his head on Floki. I think his affectionate personality is very cute. What do you think?
Floki is over three years old but he is still like a kitten when it comes to his favorite mouse. You may remember this post when I talked about Floki’s favorite mouse and my search to find a replacement. Well, I did find something similar that he likes just as much and bought a bag with a half dozen or more of them. We released about four of them into the wild and Floki plays with them quite often. Many times he will carry one onto our bed and play with it there. I have seen as many as three of his mice on our bed at the same time. In the following video, I see two of his mice.
I think it’s great that Floki plays a lot. If he is not playing with his mouse that he is playing tag with Frankie. Chris used to be a world class player but now he is more of a watcher.
I dug into the archives for this photo. This is Chris with Tigger and abbey. The photo is dated May 3, 2011. At that time it was likely that Tigger and Abbey were enjoying some alone time until Chris came along.
I saw these kittens at my local PetSmart on Thursday. It’s amazing how many need homes. The funny thing is, I was most attracted to the only cat that wasn’t a kitten. She is a Russian Blue with no age listed. Too bad I am already over my cat limit.
These kittens are at the PetSmart in Largo, Florida if anyone is interested.
