Cold Weekend, Warm Bed

We don’t get cold weather very often in the Tampa Bay area, but when we do, it’s during the weekend. Saturday morning started out at 70 degrees but dropped all day until Sunday morning when it was 36. It was cold Sunday too and currently, at 8 a.m. Monday morning, it is 41 degrees, but it will improve throughout the work week, of course.

We have an old heater and don’t trust it so we leave it off at night, which means our bed has extra blankets on it to keep us warm. That does not go unnoticed by our cats who congregated there most of the weekend.

Remembering 2016

I read that WordPress is not going to do the traditional Annual Report this year so I guess I will have to improvise and do my own review.

I thought I would first post some of the best photos from the Bad Cat Chris blog starting in January.

It was nice to see Chris and Frankie getting along

In June I changed jobs and had to say goodbye to the feral cats that I was feeding. I really miss them.20160302_Ferals_3852

After seven years, Chris is still a biter.

Even with the addition of our kitten, Floki, I still think Frankie is our most photogenic cat.

Here are some stats for 2016

That is about it for this year. I hope you have enjoyed reading about Bad Cat Chris, Puck, Frankie and Floki. I wish everyone a safe and Happy New Year and a prosperous 2017. I hope to continue to see you then. Also, if you missed it, check out my new photo blog at charleshuss.wordpress.com.

Photo Friday: Attracted by Laundry

If you want to attract cats (without food) you can either make the bed or bring in laundry, fresh from the dryer. Sometimes I fold the stuff that they are not lying on and then leave the rest for them to enjoy, at least until they get bored with it and leave.

I know it is hard to believe but I do take pictures that don’t include cats. I believe you might enjoy seeing some of my photographs so I started a photo blog at charleshuss.wordress.com. I would like it if you follow me there too, that way my pictures won’t be floating through cyberspace, lonely and unseen.

Don’t forget it’s calendar time. If you need one, check out my cat calendars here.

Cabinets are a Gateway Drug

You may remember a post from last month when Frankie leaped from the counter to the top of the bathroom door. Before that he had figured out how to stand on the toilet and open the cabinet where our linens are kept. Once the door was open, he was able to jump into the cabinet, despite the awkward angle. I guess the thrill of getting into the cabinet was short-lived and he needed to set his sights higher.

The other day Frankie had let himself into the cabinet and our kitten Floki was going crazy with jealousy. Just to see what would happen (and to get him to stop crying) I put Flokie on the shelf above Frankie. That got Chris’s attention and he jumped on the shelf with Frankie. I decided it was time to grab my camera but Frankie had enough and jumped down before I returned.

Because nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd, Puck had to join in to see what was going on.

After giving Puck a whack or two, Floki redirected his attention to bigger and better things.

Getting into a cabinet might be the goal of some cats but others need more. Floki had much higher aspirations.

20161217_cats_643

To stand on top of two doors is quite an accomplishment but Frankie did one door and Floki was not going to be beat.

“Ta-Da!” Mission accomplished! Now Dad had to get him down. Of course, he wasn’t happy about that and had to start over from the bottom.

Puck was content to be a bystander.

Since he started on the second shelf last time, he had a bit of trouble figuring out how to get back there. This is when mean ol’ Dad decided to pull funding for the expedition and cut the adventure short. What is a cat parent to do?

We are in the Cat Blogosphere Calendar of Cats

20161218_cat-calander_676The new Cat Blogosphere Calendar of Cats came out a few weeks ago and, since we are in it this year, I couldn’t not order it. It arrived just before we went on vacation so I didn’t have a chance to look at it until this weekend.

I’m not a very organised person, which isn’t good for a blogger. I don’t write too many things down and some of my ideas for post get forgotten. I even forgot to post about Chris’s Gotcha Day last month. My original thought was that this Calendar would be a novelty and it would end up lost in a drawer but I think that I could actually find a use for it.

My first thought was that I could write down all the national cat days that seem to pass me by unnoticed until it’s too late. As I flipped through the calendar however, I noticed many of those days are already in there. I just have to write down things like Chris’s Gotcha Day.

This calendar was designed by Paula Gregg of Sweet Purrfections and Debbie Glovatsky of Glogirly desiged the cover. It is set up like a weekly planner and we are located at the end of June.

There are many of my blogging friends in this calendar as well but the list is long and I don’t want to mention some while leaving others out. There are also some blogs I have not heard of but need to check out.

If you want to order your own Cat Blogosphere Calendar, you can get it here. If you prefer monthly calendars, check out my post here. Hopefully 2017 will be a great year for all of us.

It’s Cat Calendar Time

I am doing a little self promoting here and want to mention the cat calendars I have in my Zazzle store, since they are on sale today. Just look for the discount code near the top of the page. A new year is starting soon and most of you reading this are cat lovers, this would be a great Christmas gift for yourself or another cat lover that you care about.

First, of course, there is the Bad Cat Chris calendar.

This calendar has some of the best photos of Chris from the Bad Cat Chris blog.

Second, there is a calendar from another blog of mine called Just Fur Laughs.

This is filled with funny, captioned animal pictures (memes) that any animal lover would get a kick out of.

Then there is one called “Cats and Kittens.”

This one has some of the cutest pictures of my sister-in-laws cats (with some of our cats thrown in).

The best part is, these are completely customizeable, meaning you can replace some, or all, of the pictures with your own. I did that for my sister-in-law last year and gave her a calendar with 14 photos of just her cats. I thought it was a great way to personalize a gift. You can also check out my Zazzle store here to see all my products, many of them cat-related.

Okay, commercial is over, I now return you to my regular blog.
