The Return of Our Heated Pet Mat

We got our Art of Paws Heated Pet Mat six years ago. Since then, we have been using it without the heating element most of the time. I put the heating element back in when it gets cold, which isn’t very often in Florida but it did come in handy when we were in West Virginia. It hasn’t been particularly cold here lately, but we have woken up to temperatures in the forties a few days these last couple of weeks.

My wife was using a heating pad last Mondy. She set it on the bed and Floki discovered it.

Upon seeing this, my wife politely ordered me to put the heating element back into the cats’ heated mat. I did so and it was an instant hit.

I don’t have a photo of Frankie on the mat, but I am certain I have seen him on it.

Does anyone else have a heated mat or pet bed? If so, how popular is it?

Photo Friday: Floki and Freddy

I took Floki to the vet on Friday to get his nails trimmed because he absolutely will not let us cut them but he is a good boy at the vet. While in the waiting room, Freddy, the resident cat, came out to say hello.

It was a very civil meeting. Nobody growled or hissed. While Floki was with the vet tech, Freddy stayed with me and showed me how good of a biter he is.

Let Me In

Every time we walk past our community office, Frankie seems interested in going inside for some reason. The last time we were there, he was up on his hind legs scratching at the door. I didn’t get a picture of that but here he is thirty seconds later.

I have no idea what is in there that he finds interesting.

Frankie Meets Another Cat

The other day we Frankie and I came across a mother cat and her two kittens. All three cats were nervous and retreated when Frankie came near. More likely it was me they were afraid of. I see that a lot in cats that we come across. Yesterday was different.

Yesterday we met a domesticated male, black cat who came toward us instead of running away.

I didn’t know what to expect from either cat.

There was some hissing coming from the black cat, who was probably protecting his territory, so I decided to pick up Frankie and get him out of there.

Frankie’s Tenth Gotcha Day

I am three days late with this post. We actually adopted Frankie on February 9, 2014. He did not have a name at the time, only a number.

Frankie – February 9, 2014

He was a perfect fit for our house because we were already used to dealing with a bad cat. Frankie gave us a run for our money and he still does. While Chris has slowed with age, Frankie hasn’t changed a bit.

We don’t know when Frankie was born. His paperwork said he was about three years old so we count this day as his birthday too. That would make Frankie thirteen years old now.

Photo Friday: Classic Tigger and Chris

This photo was taken fourteen years ago on this day in 2010. It’s Chris hanging out with his good buddy Tigger.

This was taken using film. Remember that? I bought a film camera from my coworker and shot a roll to test it. I then sold the camera on Ebay but got some good photos out of the deal, including this picture of Abbey that I have shared before.

My Newest Book: Falling Star

I did it again. I finished a book. It took over twenty-five years to write my first novel and now, six months later, I have two more books under my belt. This one, Falling Star, is shorter than the last two at 36,000 words but it is also priced less. Today and Tomorrow only you can get the eBook version for free. I only ask for an Amazon review in return. Click here to get the Kindle version.

I am what they call a discovery writer. Another word would be pantser, because people like me don’t outline first, we just fly, or write, by the seat of our pants. In this type of writing, it is like the story takes you where it wants to go. Stephen King is a famous pantser.

The book starts out with a meteorite crashing into Shenandoah National Park in the middle of the night. The next day, a female FBI agent is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a senator’s daughter. She teams up with a park ranger and soon they are investigating other strange and deadly things that are happening around them.

This book is part thriller, part mystery and part romance. It is a relatively short read, so if this sounds appealing to you, I hope you give it a read and let me know what you think.
