The other day we Frankie and I came across a mother cat and her two kittens. All three cats were nervous and retreated when Frankie came near. More likely it was me they were afraid of. I see that a lot in cats that we come across. Yesterday was different.
Yesterday we met a domesticated male, black cat who came toward us instead of running away.
I didn’t know what to expect from either cat.
There was some hissing coming from the black cat, who was probably protecting his territory, so I decided to pick up Frankie and get him out of there.
Yikes. The suspense!
Getting out of there was probably a good move.
Good idea to move it along. 🙂
Yep, I don’t blame you for that, it’s not worth taking a chance.
No. I’m sure there would have been some whacking if I let it go on
Frankie was much safer that way

I have experience knowing when a fight is coming. 🙂 😄
Good decision…..that other cat was probably not happy about having another cat in “his” domain. Better safe than sorry!

Yes. We were the intruders.
I recall the time I picked up my large (almost 24 pounds of muscle) ginger tabby, Louie, to meet his neighbor, a handsome tuxedo. Instead of a welcome greeting, he started to beat the tuxedo up (in front of his owner), so I had to intervene, picking Louie up in mid-fight! Fortunately, I wasn’t harmed in this ill-advised move, but I learned a little bit about cat behavior that day. Clearly you had better sense than I did when Frankie met the black kitty!
I see it in my house when my cats fight. It starts slow and builds up
Andy and his late brother played well together…unless there was a favorite sleeping spot involved. You remember how in the cartoons a couple of characters fighting looked like a blurred circle in motion? That’s how my kitty boys looked when in a hot dispute! DI never knew whether to laugh or to intervene.
I understand that.
It’s for the best of you, Frankie. We don’t want to see you or the Lady Cat harmed🙏Double Pawkisses for a Happy and Relaxed Sunday to all of you🐾😽💞
No, we don’t. That was a boy cat.
dee black cat iz saying, “hey yoo, git offa my lawn!!!”
That is exactly right.
Meeting the neighbours doesn’t always result in dinner dates and sharing beers. Good to just move along. 🙂

I wish it did. 😊
they DEFINITELY were interested in each other, glad you got him out of there though. You never know!
It was the beginning of a fight. I recognize the pattern.
