Photo Friday: Stretch

This photo was taken eleven years ago tomorrow on July 2, 2011. We visited my sister-in-law where I always get a bunch of good photos because she has so many cats.

Here is Holly, who is the original “bad cat.” We always wanted to take Holly home until we got a bad cat of our own.

I have made several Memes of Holly on my Just Fur Laughs blog, here is the one using this picture.

Texts From the Cat Sitter

Here is a post from October of 2015 for Throwback Thursday. We were away on a cruise and our cat sitter sent us lots of updates.

We had two of Rose’s friends taking care of our cats while we were on our cruise. Lynn would come in the morning and Nancy would come in the afternoon (or vis versa). Lynn took pictures and sent us updates throughout the week and while we were not able to receive texts most days, it was a relief to know our cats were doing well on the days we did see them, which was Saturday while we were waiting to leave, Thursday when we were in Puerto Rico and Sunday when we returned.

I copied some of the texts from Rose’s phone to share with you.

Thank you Lynn and Nancy for taking such good care of our boys. Does anyone else get updates from pet sitters like this?

Photo Friday: Surveying the Land

Often on my walk with Frankie, we see many squirrels and birds. Sometimes they are close enough to prompt an attempted attack, which is thwarted by the leash or by me running alongside Frankie and making too much noise. More often than not, the birds or squirrels are far enough away to warrant only a curious look.

Here, Frankie is probably hoping the bird will wander into the danger zone.

I Missed Our Tenth Blogiversary

It is hard to believe that I have been writing Bad Cat Chris for over ten years now. My first blog post was posted on June 3, 2012. For some reason, I thought it was June 12. I was getting ready to write a post about it today when I discovered my error. Now I feel like the thunder has gone out of the celebration.

I looked back over the life of the blog and found my most popular posts. Here are the top three.

  1. Are Ginger Cats Friendlier?
  2. Feral Cat Ear Notching
  3. Incredible Feline Survival Stories

The top commentors are:

  1. One Spoiled Cat
  2. Summer from Sparklecat
  3. 15 and Meowing
  4. The Island Cats

I have 845 followers through WordPress, 28 through email, and I have no idea how many through other sources. I also have 3129 followers on Facebook (even though I still can’t share blog posts there because Facebook thinks my blog is spam). In addition, I have 1033 followers on Twitter, 886 on YouTube, and 220 on Intagram.

I believe that one of these two photos is the first picture that I took of Chris. They were taken at the shelter on October 3, 2009 when I brought my wife with me to see him.

We did not adopt Chris then. We had a vacation coming up and my wife had a business trip after that, or vis versa. I believe Chris was adopted and returned because of his bad behavior after this photo was taken and before we adopted him on November 14.

Here is the last photo I have of Chris. It’s not great but it is the most recent. I took this last Sunday after I took Frankie for a walk. I always take Frankie out first and then Chris goes out after Frankie comes home. I mean after I pick up Frankie and carry him home.

Well, that’s all I have for today. I hope you have enjoyed reading this blog as much as I have enjoyed writing it. I also hope to continue for many more years. Thank you so much. I appreciate all of you.

Lords of the Flies

For Throwback Thursday, here is another post from August 2015. Cats really do make good exterminators.

I think we have the worst toilet in the Western Hemisphere. I seem to constantly need the plunger which Rose seems to think is best kept outside in the shed. Rather than argue the logic, I just go to the shed to get it, which is what I did Thursday morning, not long after we had a bad rain storm.

I was able to successfully plunge the toilet and everything went down except one thing that I hope wasn’t there the entire time; a frog. I assume it crawled into the plunger and then came into the house with me. I’m just amazed that it didn’t go down with the flush.

I grabbed a tissue and tried to grab it but it jumped out of the toilet and grabbed Frankie’s attention, who likes to hang out with me sometimes in the bathroom for some strange reason. Frankie lunged for it…
