Chris is the most affectionate cat I have ever had. He is also more affectionate than any dog I have ever had. He spends a good part of his day on my lap, on Rose’s lap or curled up with Frankie or Puck.
I’m not complaining, I love that about him, but part of that affection is an unusual need to bite, especially my nose. Fortunately, the biting is only a small part of his affection but it is quite annoying and the reason all the cats get locked out of the bedroom at night.
Now I’d like to hear about your most affection pet.
I saw these two cats today at a Pet Supermarket in Largo, Florida. I was struck by how the ginger was lying completely on top of the white and black cat.
Their chart said they are a bonded pair and must stay together. They are both about 8 months old so they may also be littermates.
Chris slipped past me and out the door twice on Sunday. The first time he caught a lizard right away. Even though Chris has gained some weight lately, he is still better at catching lizards, and everything else, than all the other cats we have ever had. When he does catch a lizard, he wants to immediately bring it in the house.
I’m not sure why he has to bring his catch inside but he will just sit at the door with a lizard hanging from his mouth until someone lets him in. That was not going to happen Sunday and I tried to get him to let it go but he was not up for that.
Does anyone else have a cat that has to bring their catch inside?
I got an old 120 film camera for Christmas. I wanted to test it, but the film cost, processing, scanning, and postage two ways meant each of the twelve photos cost about $4. I didn’t want to use them up taking cat photos, but I figured one wouldn’t hurt.
Sleeping used to be difficult with an annoying cat around. Chris would keep us up at night, especially me, by biting my nose and digging his claws into my neck and back. We tried closing him out of the bedroom but he would go through great lengths to get us to open the door, including digging up the carpet. Since we no longer have carpet at the door, sleeping has been easier. We still put up with him crying at 4:00 a.m. but that is nothing compared to what we used to go through.
Unfortunately, our new home has doors that are not made using the highest of quality standards, so since Chris couldn’t dig down and destroy the carpet, he started digging up to destroy the door.
We decided to replace the door, along with the bathroom door, and put in something a little better. I’m not exactly a handyman…
Our cats entertain us in countless ways, especially Chris. If I were to count, I would add snoring to the list. You may need to turn your speakers up a little for this one.
I first reviewed the Art of Paws Heated Pet Mat in February 2018. You can read that review here. Since then it has been chiefly used without the heating element. That changed when we spent some time in West Virginia. You can see that story here. Since we returned to Florida the heating element has been packed away and the mat was on one of the cat perches.
I brought in a pile of laundry on Saturday and put it on the bed to fold. Floki immediately made a nest in the laundry and decided to take a nap at that very moment. My wife said he likes the heat and I should plug the heated mat in for them. Since Saturday was a bit chilly, 68 for a high, I thought that was a good idea.
As soon as I plugged it in Chris was on top of it.
Rose thought it should be on the sofa so she moved it.
Soon Frankie was lying next to it. It seemed like he wanted to feel the heat but he did not want to get too close to Chris. It didn’t work. I found Chris with his head on Frankie’s butt. As soon I got my phone to take the picture, he sat up.
After a while, Chris got up to inspect his food bowls and Floki took his spot.
As I write this on Sunday evening Chris is sleeping on the mat. The last time I looked Floki was on it.
Does anyone else have a heated mat or pet bed? Is it popular?
Okay, so Frankie is not technically a polecat but he can be considered a pole cat.
I don’t know what kind of pole dance he was doing here. Since this was shortly after our encounter with the stray, perhaps he was trying to lure her back.
Here is a post from March of 2016 for Throwback Thursday. I now have Rose’s desk and she works from the dining room table where she is bothered predominately by Frankie who walks across her computer when he wants something, like lunch.
My wife started a new job a few months ago that allows her to work from home a couple of days per week. The company provided her with a laptop and she had been working on a small table on our patio. The cats are all interested in “helping” her with her work, especially “Chris” who helps the most.
One day, Chris almost got fired when he dumped a full cup of tea on the laptop. It stopped working and Rose immediately took the battery out and let it dry for a day. When that didn’t work she brought it to a local computer shop who did nothing for several days and then said she needed a new mother board. Fortunately, I thought they seemed shady so we picked up the computer, brought it home and it worked, so Chris got to keep his job.
