Photo Friday: If Frankie Can’t Have Pizza, Nobody Can

I used to think that dogs were beggars, not cats, but that is not true. Our cats seem to want what we are eating no matter what. Often we have to let them smell it before they will back off but they are relentless when it comes to chicken and pizza. With pizza, it

It’s the cheese that they like so yes, I’m a sucker and pull off some cheese for the cats, but no bread. I have to draw the line somewhere.

Mother’s Little Helpers

My wife started a new job a few months ago that allows her to work from home a couple of days per week. The company provided her with a laptop and she had been working on a small table on our patio. The cats are all interested in “helping” her with her work, especially “Chris” who helps the most.

One day, Chris almost got fired when he dumped a full cup of tea on the laptop. It stopped working and Rose immediately took the battery out and let it dry for a day. When that didn’t work she brought it to a local computer shop who did nothing for several days and then said she needed a new mother board. Fortunately, I thought they seemed shady so we picked up the computer, brought it home and it worked, so Chris got to keep his job.

It didn’t take long before Rose realized that one table was not big enough for three cats and all her work so we bought a small desk and put it next to the table.

It seems that gold cats also have good luck to share.

I’m sure all you pet bloggers out there can relate to this.

This Bag’s Mine and That Bag’s Mine Too

The day we brought Chris home from the shelter, he declared himself “King of the House” and as the king, everything in the house was his and others could use it at his discretion. Nobody ever challenged Chris except Frankie, so Chris feels the need to keep showing Frankie who is in charge. Watch the video and you will see a great example of that.

The Bitter Taste of Freedom

I think this was Chris’s first taste of real freedom and he didn’t much care for it.

I had the day off from work today because it has been very slow. Since I was planning on riding my bike to work I decided instead to take the bike out for a fun ride this morning.

I keep my bikes on the patio and we normally keep the patio door locked so nobody can let the cats out but I left it unlocked this time. There is no way to lock it or unlock it from the outside and I wanted to be able to put my bike back without having to walk around to the front door.

I was gone for about an hour and a half. When I returned, it was almost 11:00 and it was already pretty hot. As I walked the bike around to the back, I heard Chris crying on the patio. At least I thought he was on the patio but when…

Seven Days of Ferals

Lately, I have been taking pictures of the feral cats at work almost every morning when I feed them. Of course, this isn’t everyday because I work four days a week, sometimes five. Also, there are not always cats around when I put food out, but I wanted to share with you some of the pictures I have taken recently.

Wednesday, March 2, 2016 – These two usually hang out together but not always.

Thursday, March 3 – I often see this one waiting under the palm tree when I arrive at work.

Monday, March 7 – The cat to the far left of the picture below is the shyest of the three and is difficult to photograph because he is usually, but not always, too far away.

This one is the easiest to photograph.

Tuesday, March 8 – There seems to be a territorial dispute here even though I put down two piles of food.

Wednesday, March 9 – Everyone was around for their picture that day. I especially like the photo of the gold cat.

Thursday, March 10 – The bulls-eye tabby sometimes is waiting along the fence about 100 feet away when I arrive while the gold cat is waiting closer. After I go inside to get their food, she moves in closer.

Friday, March 11 – I put food down and then stayed where I was and called this cat to come to me. I could tell part of him wanted to but he wasn’t quite ready for that so I backed away.

Well, that is how my morning at work starts. What do you think?

More Needy Behavior.

I posted this almost two years ago to show how needy Chris could get. I was reminded of that at 4:30 this morning when Rose got up to use the bathroom and Chris and Puck ran into the bedroom. She didn’t have the energy to throw them out so she let them stay. Puck was good and lied on my nightstand but Chris would not stop annoying me with his biting, licking, scratching and whatever else he could think of. I put up with him for fifteen minutes and then I was forced to get up. He is now napping on my lap as I write this. Sorry but you may have to click through to the original to see the video.

Chris was being extra needy this morning and since I had my camera nearby, I thought I would video him for you. Enjoy.
