My Wife, the Cat Photographer

The other day my wife, Rose, decided to give her iPad to her sister since she never uses it anymore. She asked me to remove all of her information but when I started to do that I noticed she had over a hundred photos, many of them were pictures of our cats from 2016.

I wanted to transfer the photos to my desktop computer but I was reminded over and over why I hate Apple. They have a reputation for being easy but I have always found the opposite to be true. I couldn’t access the files by plugging the iPad directly to my computer so I uploaded them to iCloud but when I tried to access them on my web browser I was informed that only an Apple device could view them.

I could go on and on but I eventually got the photos and I want to share some of them with you.

This first one is Frankie doing what Frankie does. It is a bit grainy, probably because of poor lighting.

The next one is Frankie on one of his favorite napping spots; our printer. I have since put a towel over it to make it more comfortable.

This is Floki the day after we adopted him.

Here is Frankie again. This was shortly after we adopted Floki and everyone picked up an eye infection from him. I think it was also the first time Chris went to the vet for a medical issue.

Floki again five weeks after adoption. Notice his brown color is coming in.

My wife works from home a few days a week. In this photo, she is with another person that I don’t know and had to crop her out. It looks like Chris is helping her here.

Here is Frankie and Floki keeping Rose company while she works.

The next photos are of Chris at the vet for an eye infection that he got from Floki. I won’t include those because I already posted them. You can see them here.

Here is another example of how helpful Chris is to Rose. I’m sure she gets a lot more done when Chris is around.

These next two were taken on the same day. The first is my favorite. It is Frankie and Floki enjoying the sunbeam.

Here is Frankie, Chris, and Floki. Naturally, Chris has to be lying on top of someone.

Here is a photo that is grainy but it includes all of our boys.

Finally, here is a photo of Frankie, Floki and Chris on the bed next to what I assume are Christmas presents waiting to be wrapped.

Hypnotizing a Cat or How Men Don’t Read Directions

I know that men are stereotyped as people who don’t read directions and I certainly don’t want to promote that idea but when we got our Jackson Galaxy cat toys I did not read the directions. In fact, I opened the first one without even reading the name on the package. If I had I would have saw it was a “Ground Prey Wand.” “Ground” being the key word. If I read the label I would have known what to do right away. But alas, I didn’t read it, so I started swinging it around in the air like a crazy person with only mixed results.

I didn’t post the first video I took because I eventually read the package and realized I was supposed to drag it along the ground. Part of the video was a bit funny so I thought I would share it here.

What do you think of Floki?

Petmate Jackson Galaxy Air Prey and Ground Prey Wand Cat Toys

Last month we won a couple of Jackson Galaxy cat toys from Petmate and the Sweet Purrfections blog. They arrived recently to the delight of our boys.

One of the toys is called a Ground Prey Wand and is designed to be dragged along the ground to simulate a small animal, like a mouse. The other is an Air Prey Wand which, you guessed it, simulates a bird. (I added product links to Amazon instead of Petmate partially because I am an affiliate but mostly because the prices are less there.)

They seemed to like both toys, although the ground prey toy seemed to take a little longer to figure out.

The air prey toy, on the other hand, seemed to pull at their instincts right away.

Both toys did get their attention and I think it is good to have have a variety of toys so they don’t get bored with any one toy in particular.

Don’t You Dare Take My Laundry!

It is nearly impossible to bring laundry inside and fold it before one or more cats choose to lie on top of it.

The other day I had to pull clothing out from under Chris one at a time. Each piece resulted in a corresponding growl from Chris until he finally grabbed my arm with both paws and bit my hand while kicking my arm with his back feet. I guess that laundry was important to him.

Photo Friday: This Day in Christory

I decided to do something different and post a photo from this day in history, or more appropriate, this day in Christory. I picked one photo from each year that I had photos taken on February 1st. The first one is from 2011.

I’m sure my wife had just finished ironing or was about to start when Chris took over the ironing board.

The next one I took in 2014.

Here Chris is doing what he always does when he goes outside, which is eating grass.

This one is from 2016.

It is Chris washing Puck. It is the only photo I took that day and it is a bit blurry because of movement but I wanted to include it because Puck is in it.

This is from 2018.

Here is Puck, Chris, and Frankie. I have seen three cats together on our bed quite often lately but, unfortunately, Puck is not one of them (Puck died 13 days later).
