A look Back at 2017

2017 is gone but not forgotten. Many are happy to see it go but we have some good memories.

Floki was with us for six months in January and felt right at home getting on top of our china cabinet.

In February Frankie showed everyone his Houdini trick on escaping a cat harness.cat escaping harness

Puck was at the vet in March. I think this is when he started peeing outside the box, which he is still doing.

In April we had someone marking their territory on our cars.

In May we had a visit from a tabby mother and her two Siamese kittens.

They were still around in June.

Also in June, Puck was back at the vet.

Puck was not happy to be there and wouldn't come out of his carrier.

In July we got our Jackson Galaxy bed that Chris and Floki love . . .

and a water fountain that nobody used.

We got Kitty-Kick-Stix in August.

September we evacuated for Hurricane Irma . . . twice.

We got new furniture in October that Puck peed on before we could use it.

In November we visited Aunt Felice’s cats (and Aunt Felice).

December we got another piece of furniture that Frankie scratched and Puck pooped on.

It also got cold in December and everyone decided to conserve body heat.

Fourth Blogiversary

I know I just celebrated my 500th post two days ago but today is my fourth blogiversary.  According to WordPress, the anniversary of this blog was Wednesday, the same day as my 500th blog post, but they are using the date that I registered for the blog from WordPress.com. I go by the date of my first blog post, which was June 3, 2012, Since then I have met a lot of great people, and pets, along the way, and I have had a lot of fun.

Here are some stats about the blog you might be interested in:

  • The most popular day for this blog is Thursday.
  • The most popular hour is 1:00 p.m. Hmm… maybe I should schedule posts for just before 1:00.
  • My most prolific commentor is Summer from Sparkle Cat. Very close behind is The Island Cats, Ellen Pilch from 15 and Meowing. and Sammy from One Spoiled Cat.
  • My most viewed post this year was Are Ginger Cats Friendlier? which was posted in 2013. The second most viewed post was Feral Cat Ear Notching, posted in 2014.
  • Readers this year come from 86 countries. The U.S. is first followed by The U.K., France, Australia, Finland, Canada, South Africa, Brazil, New Zealand and Switzerland.

Since this post is interrupting my regular Photo Friday post, I thought I would end with a picture taken on the day this blog started. That’s what I thought but I didn’t take any pictures that day so here is one I found from almost two weeks later.

Bad Cat Chris with lizard

I used this picture on Chris’s Twitter page but I don’t think I ever posted it here. I like it because it is related to my last post and shows that Chris has always been a good lizard catcher. I actually found another picture of Chris with a lizard from a day or two earlier than this but the quality was not good.

In closing, I just want to thank you all for reading this blog and being so nice in your comments. I hope blog here for many more years.

200th Post

Today marks my 200th blog post. I write this blog mostly for the fun of it and not to accomplish any type of goal, however, it does feel good that I have made it this far.

When I started this blog I intended to tell Chris’s story from the beginning. That story eventually let to the eBook, “Bad Cat Chris” which was mostly taken from those first six months of posts. After I caught up with his story I worried I wouldn’t have much to write about but Chris and Crew have kept me busy.

Here are a few statistics from the last 100 posts:

  • It took over 17 months to write the first 100 posts and less than 9 months to write the next 100 posts.
  • My most viewed post was “Are Ginger Cats Friendlier,” which was actually written before my 100th post but must have gotten Google’s attention since then.
  • The post with the most comments was Zzzzzzz… Crash.
  • My biggest commenter was Fossiemum who was also tops on my first 100 posts. She has two blogs (that I know of). Fozzie.M and All Fur One and One Fur All. Other top commenters include The Island Cats, Caren and Cody from Cat Chat with Caren and Cody, Sammy from One Spoiled Cat, Julia M from Lessons With Oscar, and Sparkle the Designer Cat.
  • The countries with the most views this past year are The United States, Australia, The United Kingdom, Canada and Germany. It is interesting that people from over 75 countries have checked out my blog this past year. I love that I am reaching people all over the world.

I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to read Bad Cat Chris. I hope you will continue to come back as I will do my best to give you something worth coming back for.

Before I finish I just want to mention again that Chris has taken over the Twitter, Facebook and Google+ accounts. Please check them out.
