Fourth Blogiversary

I know I just celebrated my 500th post two days ago but today is my fourth blogiversary.  According to WordPress, the anniversary of this blog was Wednesday, the same day as my 500th blog post, but they are using the date that I registered for the blog from WordPress.com. I go by the date of my first blog post, which was June 3, 2012, Since then I have met a lot of great people, and pets, along the way, and I have had a lot of fun.

Here are some stats about the blog you might be interested in:

  • The most popular day for this blog is Thursday.
  • The most popular hour is 1:00 p.m. Hmm… maybe I should schedule posts for just before 1:00.
  • My most prolific commentor is Summer from Sparkle Cat. Very close behind is The Island Cats, Ellen Pilch from 15 and Meowing. and Sammy from One Spoiled Cat.
  • My most viewed post this year was Are Ginger Cats Friendlier? which was posted in 2013. The second most viewed post was Feral Cat Ear Notching, posted in 2014.
  • Readers this year come from 86 countries. The U.S. is first followed by The U.K., France, Australia, Finland, Canada, South Africa, Brazil, New Zealand and Switzerland.

Since this post is interrupting my regular Photo Friday post, I thought I would end with a picture taken on the day this blog started. That’s what I thought but I didn’t take any pictures that day so here is one I found from almost two weeks later.

Bad Cat Chris with lizard

I used this picture on Chris’s Twitter page but I don’t think I ever posted it here. I like it because it is related to my last post and shows that Chris has always been a good lizard catcher. I actually found another picture of Chris with a lizard from a day or two earlier than this but the quality was not good.

In closing, I just want to thank you all for reading this blog and being so nice in your comments. I hope blog here for many more years.

Photo Friday: The Investigators

I cannot open the laundry room door or any closet door without one or more cats wanting to go inside to perform a thorough investigation. Recently both Chris and Frankie were investigating a closet but I have yet to get their full report.

This is my investigation Chris! Find your own closet.

Calm down Frankie. I just want to smell your face.

Let’s call a temporary truce… Okay, agreed.

Look Frankie! This is where I buried your predecessor. Ha, ha, ha… Just kidding.

I think there might be a secret stash of mice in here. If I only had opposable thumbs.

Okay Frankie, I’m bored. What do you want to investigate now?

Photo Friday: Relaxing in the Penthouse

Getting on top of tall things like the china cabinet has always been Chris’s area of expertise. Puck usually just watched as Chris  traveled the upper reaches of our home like Tarzan swinging through the vines. But he did more then watch; he learned. Now Puck is able to get on top of the china cabinet like an old pro. He even climbed inside one of Rose’s baskets one day so we decided to turn it on its side and now it is like a little penthouse with a view. It seems to be his second favorite place to be, right behind the top of the couch overlooking our living room window.

Of course, one cat can’t do something interesting without the other getting jealous and wanting to join in. So was the case this day when Chris spotted Puck in his “penthouse” and wanted to see if there was anything he could do to annoy him. In the end, Chris got bored and was off to a new adventure, leaving Puck alone to enjoy some peace and quiet.

Dad! Tell him its my turn!

I’ll wait ’till you’re done.

I can’t wait. I have things to do.

Was it something I said?

Alone at last.

Photo Friday: Happiness is a Dresser Drawer

I’ve had a passion for photography since my youth. Part of the reason I like it so much is that it helps my memory. Some people are gifted with a great memory, I am not, so it is nice to look back at old pictures and think, “oh yeah, I remember that now.”

I also like to take pictures that are a pleasure to look at, like landscapes, wild animals and pet cats. Yes cats, because they can be so cute and funny and who doesn’t enjoy a good cat picture?

I noticed that a few blogs do “Wordless Wednesday,” which I think is a good idea, but I happen to like words too. I even have a website devoted to funny animal pictures with captions called Just Fur Laughs (don’t click yet). So instead of “Wordless Wednesday” I decided to do “Photo Friday.” This will give me an opportunity to share some photographs that I think you will enjoy and a few words to go along with them. So let’s get started.

Cats in drawer
This photo was taken after Rose had her top drawer open and Chris climbed inside. He made his way to the back and then up and over so he was behind the drawer. I had to remove the top drawer to get him out, and when I did, Puck jumped inside to see what all the fuss was about. Chris has done this before so now we are more vigilant about keeping him out of the drawers when they are open but sometimes we are not vigilant enough.

Now, can anyone think of a caption for this photo? Once you have one, click here to see what I came up with.
