My wife found Chris sleeping on our bed one evening and covered him with a blanket.

Recently I got a $40 off $80 coupon from Zapos and since I needed sneakers I decided to use it. I had a choice of getting one pair of $80 shoes or two pairs of $40 shoes. I chose the latter because I am cheap like that. I also have big feet so two pairs of shoes came in a big box. It was probably bigger than it needed to be but that is probably because they knew I had cats.
I decided to use the box to construct another Fort Box for the cats since the last two were a big hit. I took several photos along the way and all of them came out either bad or horrible because the lighting was not ideal and the cats wouldn’t stop moving. I am including them here reluctantly because I need something to illustrate the story.
As before I cut several peep holes and two doors but this time I left the flap on one of the doors for privacy. I also cut an escape hatch on the top.
Of course, Chris took over the box immediately.

Floki was also interested but was too late.

At one point Floki managed to get inside.

That is when Chris decided to exert his dominance.

After some time of Chris’s selfish behavior, Rose asked me to take the new car seat we just bought out of the box so Frankie and Floki could have a box. This I did and Frankie was very happy with his alternative box.

He was happy until Chris discovered there was another box.

Here is a photo taken in Late December, 2009. Chris was relatively new to our home and the other cats would typically exclude him in there little get-togethers. Unfazed by the slight, our Baby Huey would join them anyway.

This was the first photo taken using my first digital SLR (a Canon Rebel XT) that I got on my birthday, July 9, 2005. It is Abbey on our fish tank with her brother, Alex, watching her.

It is not perfect, technically, but I thought it was still worth sharing. What do you think?
We bought a new Keurig coffee machine recently and the cats love the box that it came in. It seems like the perfect size for them.

It has been in our living room for over two weeks, longer than a typical box usually hangs around. My wife was tired of tripping over and asked me to throw it out the other day, but then she left for Virginia for a week so the cats still have until Tuesday to enjoy their box before I have to trash it.
I have mentioned before that Floki is the most difficult cat to control in the universe. My wife and I working together can’t contain him long enough to cut just one of his nails. Forget about all ten. Chris, on the other hand, can hold him down indefinitely all by himself.

He used to hold down Puck by grabbing the scruff of his neck but now it’s Floki’s turn. What I don’t understand is why Floki doesn’t struggle like he does with us. I’ve held Floki by the scruff to no avail. He does cry loudly when Chris does that, which alerts me that I need to go break it up.
I have written a few posts on this subject in case you are bored and want to read on.
Since starting as a volunteer at the SPCA a few months ago, I have noticed a surprisingly high number of cats who spend there time lying in litter boxes. I don’t know why. The pods at the SPCA are about 100 square feet with plenty of vertical sleeping areas. Perhaps it is a reaction to stress. Considering there are between four and eight cats in each pod and the pods are constantly changing as cats come and go, I can understand why it would be stressful, especially for the more timid cats.

Sometimes they are joined by friends.

Our cats got a three way cat tunnel for Christmas and they love it. A month later they still play with it.

What was your favorite present?
Here ia a classic photo of Abbey and Flash taken almost ten years ago on February 28, 2010. It was three months after we adopted Chris and two months before Flash died at the young age of five.

I think anyone with cats knows that a catfight can breakout at any moment without warning, even after what seems like friendly behavior. Case in point:
Do any of you have cats that don’t do this?
