This post is from late November 2016. I had forgotten all about this treat dispenser. We must not have had it very long, but I have no memory of what happened to it.
My Newest Book: Last Hope
I just released the fifth book in my Last Healer Mysteries series called Last Hope.

The first book in the series jumped ahead two years at the end. This one starts where that one left off. Here is the official description of the book:
In the fifth Last Healer Mystery, Katie and Joe learn of a tragedy in Katie’s hometown while they are celebrating their son’s first birthday. The husband of Katie’s childhood best friend stands accused of murdering the community’s lone police detective. They return to the small Wisconsin town, determined to find the real killer.
As they dig deeper, they uncover chilling ties between the detective’s death and the recent killing of the mayor’s daughter. It soon becomes clear someone will stop at nothing to keep the truth buried.
What do you think? Does the description make it sound interesting?
As always, I need reviews for this book and all of my books. Anyone who can help with that will be greatly appreciated. Also, I recently discovered that I bought the Kindle version of The Last Healer for someone who never accepted the book. If I remember correctly, I sent her a physical book and forgot about the Kindle version. If anyone wants it, let me know in the comments. I will provide the link to the first person who says they want it; however, I can’t guarantee it will still work after 2 years.
If you want to read more about the book, check out my blog post here.
Photo Friday: Bookends
Here are Frankie and Floki sitting on the catio like a couple of bookends. I wanted to photograph them looking out the screens but opening the door distracted them.

Throwback Thursday: Happy Thanksgiving
We want to wish everyone who is celebrating today a Happy Thanksgiving. I have been so busy I didn’t think to create a new Thanksgiving graphic so I thought I would combine it with Throwback Thursday and share one from 2016.

Photo Friday: The Face Rub
Our homeowners’ association consists of six houses and four empty lots that we all own a share of. Often, but not always, my walk with Frankie consists of a circle around the property. Our house is on a corner lot near the street. At the end of the alley, there is an open area and a large wall that separates the next neighborhood. Whenever we reach that end, Frankie always rubs his face on a stick that our neighbors use to hold up one of their plants.

I have read that this is another way to mark their territory besides the obvious method. We did see the girl cat named Frankie in that area yesterday, so maybe that is why he does it.
Throwback Thursday: Our Cats Have a New Favorite Spot
Here is a fun post from November 19, 2016
Photo Friday: November 13
I saw an email from OneDrive yesterday labeled “Your memories from this day.” In it were a few cute photos of our cats from this day in history. I thought this would be a good place to share some of the photos.

Throwback Thursday: The Face of Frankie
Frankie has always been a photogenic cat. Here he is in November 2016.

The Road to Recovery is Full of Potholes
My wife insisted that I start seeing a chiropractor again after suffering a terrible back injury early last week. Surprisingly, finding one in a neighborhood of 31,000 old people was quite difficult. I eventually found one and made an appointment for Friday. An hour later they called and said they had a cancellation and could get me in at 3:00.
I hesitated to see anyone about my back earlier since I was in great pain, but by yesterday morning, the pain level was around twenty percent of what it was at its worst. The chiropractor examined me and did some gentle manipulations, but didn’t do the typical back-cracking technique. When I left, I felt a little worse than when I arrived, but that’s sometimes normal.
The pain continued to get worse throughout the evening. By the time I was ready to go to bed, my back hurt worse than it did at the peak of pain a week ago.
The terrible pain continued this morning. It was a struggle to get out of bed. I eventually was able to hobble to the sofa. I couldn’t get up to do my work, which I do from my desktop computer, so I asked Rose to bring my laptop to me so I could work from the sofa. Frankie had other ideas.

He sat on my laptop for probably ten minutes while I pet him. I didn’t want to make him get down since today would be another day he doesn’t get his walk. Rose did let him out on the catio, but considering our temperature dropped to 36 degrees this morning, he decided it was better to stay in the house.
No Rest For the Weary
It has been a week since I threw out my back. Technically, I hurt it a little last Saturday, but Monday Morning, I hurt it a lot. I could barely move for three whole days. Here is Frankie Monday morning demanding I take him for a walk.

Frankie has a habit of sitting and staring when he wants something. It really is effective, but this time I couldn’t help him. How do you explain to a cat who is used to getting morning walks that he can’t go out?
I am feeling about fifty percent better today and was able to take Frankie for a walk this morning and yesterday morning, which I’m thankful for, and so is Frankie.
Unfortunately, my bad back meant that I couldn’t ride in the car today, as my wife went to visit her 92-year-old dad on the other side of the state. He fell on Monday and ended up in the hospital. Now he is in a rehabilitation center and may not ever be able to go back to his house.
In other news, I finished the script for the fifth installment of my Last Healer Mysteries series called “Last Hope.” While I am involved in getting an artist to create the cover, I have decided to release on Amazon a short story I wrote, titled “Repeat.” It is available for free as an e-book today and tomorrow. Click here to get a copy. It is a fifteen to twenty-minute read, and I think you will enjoy it, especially the twist at the end.
