I know it is hard to see but there is a small bird on the bird feeder. I opened the door this morning to let Frankie onto the catio and the bird didn’t move. He stopped eating and watched, but he stayed put (I use “he” in a generic sense because I don’t like “it.”). Then when Frankie jumped onto the storage box, I thought surely the bird would fly away, but again he stayed put. I left to get my phone and was certain he would be gone when I came back but still, he stayed, even after I opened the door again to get the shot.
On another note, does anyone know if Pam from One Spoiled Cat is okay?
As far as we know, yes. She does not have a current cell phone, so when they had to change internet providers, they lost contact through all services with the outside world. As the former internet company pulled out of the entire area where she lives, we guess there are huge numbers of people who need to be reconnected to a new provider. Sharon was able to get in touch with another blogger friend of Pam’s who was able to verify that they are okay. it is driving Sharon and I crazy that we cannot communicate with her. As to the bird, they get very accustomed to us. Tom had one land on and sit on his shoulder a few years back. It stayed long enough for me to get a photo. It is somewhere on the blog. Birds sit on the feeder which is only inches from the bedroom window with one or more cats right on the other side of the window. Unless a cat dives at the window, they could care less. Thanks for the info about Pam. I was worried. I’m glad it is just an internet problem. I would love to have a bird land on my shoulder. That is so cool.

Yes, last I heard, Pam was having computer/connection problems. I didn’t think it would take this long to get squared away, tho. I hope all is well.
I hope that is the problem. Sometimes it takes a long time to fix things. I remember a house in our old neighborhood was hit by a car, which damaged a support beam holing up the awning over the front door, or whatever it is called. It took over six months before i saw anyone working on it.
It seems to be taking an inordinate amount of time to get Pam and gang back ‘online’. If it were us, my hubby would be furious, and what about peeps like my sons who need the internet to get their work done from home. It’s not like a temporary power outage…

I agree. If it were me, i would use my phone as a hotspot but if she has no cell phone, that makes it harder.
I think I recall her telling her fellow bloggers that her phone is only being used for calls, and is not a smartphone. Once when our internet was down for a few days due to a weather incident, we took our laptops to a starbucks and a panera to ‘connect’.
Birds, I believe, count on being able to fly up and away from trouble quickly enough to take some chances. Sometimes they gamble incorrectly, but it looks like this bird isn’t worried about Frankie. After all, most housecats are fed enough they don’t go after the birds, it’s the feral and stray cats that do.
Yes, and birds are more intelligent than people realize.
Maybe the bird thinks if it doesn’t move, Frankie won’t see him. We wonder about Pam and Teddy too. We knew their internet was disappearing but we didn’t think it would take this long to get something else. We’d be going crazy if it was us.
