I saw these two cats today at a Pet Supermarket in Largo, Florida. I was struck by how the ginger was lying completely on top of the white and black cat.

Their chart said they are a bonded pair and must stay together. They are both about 8 months old so they may also be littermates.
I always hope that the people who adopt cats who ‘must stay together’ do, in fact, keep them together. I’ve no idea how much background checking, if any, goes into those weekly adoption venues they have on Saturdays at our local Petsmart.
Hi Lois, I adopted our cat Roary from a local PetSmart 2 years ago. The local rescue had their cats at the event. Trust me our backgrounds were checked big time. I had to fill out an application and I believe she also spoke with me on the phone. Same when I adopted my other cat, Cody from a different PetSmart (or Petco, can’t remember which because it was over 15 yrs ago). I was definitely checked!
Caren–thank you so much for this. My cats are all street rescues, so I had no experience with a true adoption but have always been curious and, as you could tell, a little wary of Petsmart/Petco adoptions. I’m happy to hear they make sure these little guys and gals go to good homes.
you are most welcome Lois! My first cat was a street adoption too 🙂
I adopted Chris after first seeing him at petsmart. The organization that I was volunteering with had a few of their cats at petsmart. I think they rotated with 2 other organizations so each would get 2 weeks. I suppose it depends on the organization as far as what kind of background checks or anything like that they do.
That is good to know.
I don’t know much about that either. In this case, I think the county has several stores in the area that they contract with and bring cats there and exchange them out from time to time. I was actually being considered for the job of the person who transports the cats and takes care of all that but I didn’t get the job.
they are precious!! Hoping someone adopts them both, they are darling! That should be their adoption photo because it conveys just how bonded they are.
I agree.
They are so cute, I hope they get to go home really soon.
As do I.
Awwww…babies.
You know, I have never adopted a cat from a pet store. My first cat came from a coworker, second came from a friend (couldn’t handle a stray kitten…busy life), third was a neighbor’s cat that they ignored and Ollie came from a Facebook post. I am not opposed to the idea. Just never went that route.
It is nice that the pet stores allow shelters to put their cats there.
So sweet. I hope they get adopted soon.
I do too. I think someone will want them.
They’re gorgeous and I sure do hope that whoever adopts them (and I pray that’s soon!) they can stay together. Bonded pairs NEED to be together for so many sweet reasons.
Hugs, Pam
I think someone will want them both.
What a couple of cuties! I hope they find their home soon.
I would take them if I had room.
Oof! Imagine being squished like that under Chris’s meaty rump!
Chris is a big Baby Huey.
Baby Huey?
Ohhh! 🤣🤣🤣
So sweet together, they remind me of us😺Good Luck Pawkisses to find a furrever home soon🐾😽💞
I think you are right.
Our Kozmo came from Petsmart. The local Humane Society was the actual organization and they were terrific. They followed up with us at 3 month intervals for a year and a half to make sure that Kozmo was fitting in OK.
That is really good.
