I was at Pet Supermarket a couple of weeks ago and came across a sale on Stella and Cheweys. I bought those in the past because all our cats liked them and Chris loved them. The ones I bought were relatively big, maybe the size of Peanut M&Ms, and were intended as a meal that you add water to. Our cats didn’t like it wet, so I used them as treats. I only passed out a few at a time because I’m sure too many would be dehydrating. After Chris died, Frankie and Floki lost interest, so I stopped buying them.
When I saw them at the register I noticed they were different. The pieces were smaller. At buy one get one free, I figured it was worth a try.
I’m glad I bought them because both Frankie and Floki love them.
Recently, after I learned Floki might have dental issues, I was left with three choices. I could brush his teeth everyday, which would be easy if I had superpowers. I could pay an insane amount of money to have the vet do it. I choose the third option: buy dental treats.
We used to buy Greenies for our cats years ago. I’m not sure why we stopped. Perhaps I looked at the ingredients. I don’t know, but I figured whatever is in them might be less bad than having teeth pulled. I bought the Oven Roasted Chicken Flavor, and again our cats loved them.
Has anyone else tried either of these treats?
Haven’t seen those in our stores but then I didn’t know to look for them but I will now! Thanks for the info.

I can’t say for sure that Greenies are helpful but that is my hope.

Mom brushes my teeth every day. I love the taste of the chicken toothpaste, but I still make her job as difficult as possible by turning my head upside down, chewing the toothbrush, and nibbling her hand.

Floki would freak out if we tried that
I use a gel that you just put in their mouth, or they can even lick it off themselves. There are also water additives that are made to help keep teeth looking good. Of course my fur kids are dogs, but there are similar products for cats. (Tevra pets dental gel)
I would worry about the health of water additives.
Yes, I do not use them either. But the gel seems to work. The vet even asked me what I was using.

We’ve not tried those treats. Cat dentals are outrageously expensive, more than human dentals, yikes!
They said it started at well over $600 and could go higher if there were any issues. Of course, there’s always issues.
aww we love dog greenies too… but its true… they are a little pricey…
If they work it is cheaper than a vet cleaning.
I’ve been looking for some good dental treats for Murphy. I tried the Greenies but he didn’t seem interested, only ate them occasionally. But I might give them a try again. Cheeto will eat anything. lol
I think they have different flavors.
Most cats are hit or miss with treats. What one delights in, the next doesn’t want for any reason. Although I have seen a few very cheap treats none of the cats would touch.
And sometimes they like something until you buy a whole bunch of it.
