I am starting a new job on Tuesday so Friday was the last time I will see my feral cats at work. The week and a half after I gave my notice I saw very little of them. Sometimes I would put food out at 8 a.m. and it would still be there at noon. Other times it would be gone but I couldn’t be sure the birds weren’t eating it. I was actually glad about that because it meant that the cats didn’t need me and I could stop worrying about not being there for them.
Then the shy one showed up on Tuesday morning.
I was off on Wednesday and the gold and white cat was there Thursday morning, waiting in the parking lot for me.
On my last day both the gold and white cat and the grey and white were there waiting.
I feel bad about leaving them but I do have to live my life too.
I’ll leave you with more recent pictures since I won’t be taking any more. So sad.
Hope for the best…
Thank you.
Do you think anyone at your old place of work would take over feeding them?
No. They aren’t the type. I never even told them I was doing it.
IS there a feral group in the area you could contact to feed them? Good luck on the new job.
Thanks. I think they might be getting fed elsewhere. They are all ear-tipped so someone has looked out for them in the past and my still be doing it.
Oh you must feel awful. I read what you said above and I am hoping that is the case, it probably is! catchatwithcarenandcody
I think so. I saw them from time to time for perhaps a year before I decided to put food out for them.
They are handsome cats! You got great pictures of them, especially since they’re feral. Someone else probably is feeding them.
I think so. The gold one lets me get within 10 feet sometimes.
Awww, I bet they will miss you – I know you will miss them.
I sure will.
We hope you are right that they are being fed elsewhere. If they aren’t currently, we sure hope they’ll find a colony to join so they won’t go hungry. Good luck with your new job, and good luck to the kitties. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Thanks. I think not seeing them every morning means they aren’t starving.
Awww! Pretty kitties! So sweet that they came to say goodbye. They will be fine, hopefully someone else will feed them.
I am sure they will be ok but I will miss seeing them.
Don’t feel bad….you did so much for them….they will find another kind person to help them when they need it. They look good – I’m glad you got to say goodbye to them!
Pam and Sam
Thank you. I really believe most people are good and they will be ok.
We believe that too…..good luck with the new job!!!!

You really have a difficult situation. The cats seem to be in good condition, not starving. I am sure somebody else is also feedind them. I know the feeling, we have kept a feeding station for three regular visitors. Now we are planning to move and I am very worried about these cats.
We can only do what we can do. I hope your cats will be ok.
You’ve done a wonderful thing, taking care of them. I believe they sensed your imminent departure; how bittersweet. Your photos are beautiful.
Thank you. People expect funerals to be dirty but they do groom themselves nicely.
Such a hard thing to have to do. But it sounds like they may be getting food elsewhere and since they were already ear tipped… I hope they will be okay.
Thanks. I think they will be fine.
They are so beautiful and you did so much ((HUGS)) XOXO – Bacon
Thanks Bacon.
Oh No!!! We sure hope God sends somepawdy new to take of them. They are so adorable. Good luck with your new job.
Luv ya’

I hope so too. Thanks.

This is the last of my Ferals at Work stories for Throwback Thursday. I hope the little guys are doing okay.
Fingers crossed for them. I know how you feel. They really are adorable.
When I go for walks in my neighborhood I make sure to carry canned food with me. Then I don’t have to go scrambling last minute to see where I can buy cat food for a stray.
Congrats for the new gig!
That’s a great idea. They have it in small pouches now too which might be easier.
