I always feel bad for the other cats, Puck and Frankie, because they must be locked out of the bedroom because Chris is bad and can’t be in there. The reason Chris can’t be there is because he is the most annoying cat ever when we are trying to sleep. Nevertheless, I decided to leave the bedroom door open last night since Rose was away. I decided I would just give him a chance and if he was too bad I would just throw them all out and shut and lock the door (I have to lock it because Chris knows how to open it).
Chris and Puck immediately took advantage of the open door. Puck laid at my feet like the good cat that he is and Chris laid down by my head and immediately began clawing at my face and biting my shoulder and my nose. I expected that and put up with it for about ten minutes. I was hoping the excitement would wear off and he would get tired and go to sleep.
Hah! That’s like hoping a root canal won’t be that bad. Chris, of course, would not stop annoying me so I picked him up and put him down next to my side and held him there. That almost never works but this time I annoyed him and he got up and left, taking Puck with him.
The next thing I know it is 4:45 and Chris is crying and poking my face. I guess I would rate that experiment a moderate success.
I just love the visual that this post created. You are such a good cat daddy!
Thanks. 🙂
Well, can we call it partial success anyway? I guess since Chris is an insomniac he wants everyone to be one. HAHAHA
Pam
I know. Cats are supposed to be great sleepers. I don’t know what happened to Chris, although he is sleeping now…Shhhhh
Sounds as if maybe a long hard play session prior to bedtime might help. Our humans can’t lock us out of the bedroom ’cause Giulietta will scratch at the door non-stop and Fiona will whine and cry. It’s pretty crazy ’cause neither of them even sleep in the bedroom that often. It does sound like you enjoyed a partial success. Chris flipped the handle over and over at the other house, even when it was locked it still moved. We had to change it to a round handle but then he just dug a hole in the carpet. Now we have no carpet and the handle won’t move when locked. He wines at the door too but has learned it won’t work.
We scratch and scratch at the door if the mom tries to lock us out…so anyway you look at it, she won’t get any sleep. 😉
I’ve been there. 🙂
We are on the exact same sleeping schedule as my human! I don’t know how that worked out – we kitties must be slacking.
Your human is lucky to have you.
Yes the reason we have Al-cat-raz with a lock due to Pickles and her door opening skills..if only they would sleep in peace on the bed or even wherever they liked in the house…but the moment the lights go out……………..can of idiots open in the house ….good luck 😉 hugs Fozziemum x
Lol. We used to let the cats sleep with us before Chris was in the picture. Back then the biggest problem was that they would take up too much room on the bed.
Yep…always one that spoils it for the rest haahaha 🙂
With my previous two cats, I would lock the offender in the basement. Sometimes it was both of them! Ellie
It’s too bad they can’t just understand that bedtime means sleep time.
omg – I laughed all the way through that post! I think of the times I get up 4 and 5 times a night (thankfully not every night!) to raise the blind that is being clawed at or open a window to try to keep Mr. Whitey interested in staying IN… yeesh! and a big (sarcastic) thanks to the jerk/s who illegally brought coyotes into S.C. to assist with hounding – now they are in every county of S.C. and Mr. Whitey’s cat door must remain closed at night – he probably thinks I’m torturing him…! 😦
That’s too bad. I live too close to a busy road to let our cats out unsupervised. Chris is tortured by that.
Reblogged this on Bad Cat Chris and commented:
I thought I would reblog this post because Rose is away and I have been letting the cats sleep with me just like in this post. The results are about the same as before with Chris waking me up at 2 a.m. and again at 4:45.
At least you got a few hours sleep 🙂
