Working on a blog post can be quite a daunting task. It is not coming up with Ideas or finding the right words that are the biggest problem. The hardest part is seeing the screen or typing when a 12 pound cat is standing in front of you or lying across one arm and part of the keyboard. I’m sure many of you reading this can relate.
Even writing this post has been a chore. My little assistant has done everything but actually help. He started by lying on my right arm, forcing me to push the keyboard away and type left-handed. I then moved him to my lap, which sometimes works but this time he jumped down and started biting my legs. He then got up and decided to help me type. He is now back on my lap allowing me to finish this post.
As soon as I finished that last sentence he got up to stare down Frankie. He must have noticed I was done.

I work on our laptop when I’m doing the blog. Bo likes to come over and lay on the keys, or nudge my arm to be pet. Silly cats! Ellie
Why do they like to lie on the keyboard? It seems uncomfortable.
Our keyboard on the laptop is flat, and generates heat. I’m pretty sure that’s why he likes it! 😀
I can see a warm keyboard as inviting. Oops, Chris is trying to step on my keyboard as I write this.
They sure love the keyboard for some reason.
Hehe. I have a large desk so a cat gets to lay on the left side of it in comfort and another one behind it. The problem is when someone decides they need attention and starts patting my arm or moving the keyboard with their head. Or when I get leg rubs and pitiful mews from the youngest cat.
You are lucky to have a large desk. My desk is just big enough to work alone. I think when you blog you are paying attention to something other than them so they naturally want attention more.
Ikea is awesome for large desks.
A larger desk could be nice but we have downsized quite a bit these last few years and just don’t have the room. I would like to someday compress our belongings small enough to live on a boat.
Oh indeed…I have my keyboard on my lap in the loungeroom and duelling cats that fly across from one armrest to the other…like squirrel monkeys …only less polite…sheesh….good help…Fozziemum
I have to laugh just picturing that. 🙂
Drives me to distraction and the cause of most but not all of my typos! they do the same if I happen to be eating in here too…leapin lennies I call them…;)
🙂
😉
Lol thank god you have him! I mean, what could you possibly get done without your trusty assistant by your side?! 😛
Well, at least he gives me something to write about. 😉
Indeed! 😀
that is certainly something we can ALL relate to!!
I suspected as much.
We like to help the mom when she blogs. Though for some reason, she never appreciates our help.
Hmmm… I wonder why.
awwww yes…the challenge of many who blog for us cats. I myself, never ever get on Mom’s desk…now The Kid Sage…yup, she gets right up there and walks across the keyboard…and Mom says bad words…heh…heh
There’s one in every crowd. Only Chris bothers me when I’m writing. Puck and Frankie are happy to just hang out nearby.
Like you, I have a little four-legged assistant too. I’ve gotten pretty good at finding the keyboard while bobbing my head around a swishing tail.
This is so common. I sometimes have to stop what I am doing in hopes that he gets bored and moves.
Reblogged this on Bad Cat Chris and commented:
I just got back from a five day cruise, so enjoy this post from the past while I catch up with what I have missed.
Chris is not disturbing you, you just don´t understand that he loves you and wants be near you, especially when you are working with a warm computer, but it is love, just love.
He is a very loving and affectionate cat.
That is funny, cats just know. 🙂
I can relate! 😻
Most people with cats know what I am talking about. 🙂
