Catnip Bender

I have a catnip plant that I have been growing for several months now. It has been outside all this time because the first time I brought it inside for the cats they didn’t seem interested in it. Yesterday I decided to try again. What a difference a few months make. I don’t know if it smells different now but the cats had their faces so deep into the plant that I thought they were going to get sucked in and disappear.

Bad Cat Chris and Puck attacking catnip plantChris was being a bit possessive of the plant and would whack Puck every now and then. When I saw how funny they were I ran to grab my camera. I wanted to also grab my video camera but the memory card was full because of my wretched procrastination. I snapped some pictures and took a short video using my Canon SLR but as always happens when shooting video with my Canon, I managed to screw up the focus. I am sure there is an auto focus setting but I have not taken the time to look for it.

After less than a minute the memory card on my Canon filled up too but I did manage to catch a bit of the action. Now I have so erasing to do.

Hilarious…just like watching my girls Dinnermintz and Cleo…Cleo gets totally wiped out on the nip! drools…eats it rubs in it then stares with eyes like dinnerplates! Dinnermintz and Pickles just chill with it a bit but Marbles gets really aggro with the others!! she is like the bloke that becomes a nasty drunk hahaah I find after pruning it they go berserk..it must release the scent rapidly..great video love it πŸ™‚

The photos and video are so cute. Sometimes we aren’t interested in our catnip plants, which are outside, and other times we are all over them. We too get a little possessive and some smacky paw action starts up. Mom doesn’t have video but lots of photos. Did Chris and Puck crash for the remainder of the day? I guess you have to be in the catnip mood, huh? They didn’t crash because that was after we got home from work and they were probably napping all day.

oh that WAS a “catnip bender” for sure and sooo adorable! Yes, I bet now that the plant has matured they can smell it better. Love how one of your kitties swatted at the other to keep away from that nip! That video was too cute!

my momma told me once about parties she had as she was a teenager… I think after your video I can imagine that parties lol… although nipped cats are cuter than nipped humans lol

I grow catnip in a hanging basket outside. That way I can set it on the ground for them to “prune” it and then put it up to regrow. I’m not sure Chris whapped Puck all that hard – it looked more like Puck just fell over !

That Chris is one possessive little guy! Poor Puckie just trying to get his share of the nip and Chris has to act out like someone who’s had too much to drink! πŸ˜‰
