This post is from September 2016. Puck was a well-behaved cat except for his issues of pooping and peeing outside the box. The peeing was caused by a bladder issue, which led to his untimely death despite being treated for the condition.

That sure wasn’t a fun thing to deal with.
It was a tough time.
I am glad none of our kitties ever did that, though our first cat and Pipo did that on the carpet when they were in their last moths, I think they were experiencing kitty dementia…
Chris pooped in the tub for a while after we adopted him. We started calling him Tub Pooper C.
Poor Puck. Something clearly was upsetting him.
They may cause us trouble when they go “off track” but we figure out how to help them and hopefully they get back on track……at a point it’s like having an elderly relative that you’re caring for – you just deal with the problems because they don’t do things on purpose. The potty problems are so common in our cat community aren’t they. Sigh.
Hugs, Pam
I think cats are not big water drinkers (except Chris was) and the dry kibble compounds the problem.
