Before we came back to Florida I took a 360-degree video of our home in West Virginia so you could get an idea of what it was like for Rose and I and the cats. I took it using my GoPro Fusion camera that has two 180 degree lenses. It is essentially two cameras in one with a software program called Fusion Studio that stitches the two images together.
Unfortunately, Fusion Studio is the worst software program since Windows Vista and possibly even worse than that. Both the camera and the program were discontinued shortly after I bought the camera so there is no hope for an update that will improve it.
In any case, it would not work on my computer in West Virginia so I had to wait until I got back to Florida to process it. When it did process the video, it tried to keep the video pointing in the same direction even though I turned the camera. So watching it will require you to use your mouse or finger to turn the image so you can see everything. Better yet, if you have VR goggles you can use that.
A couple of things I didn’t mention in the video are that the home is on the National Registry of Historic Places, and two people told us there is a ghost in the house. One said the ghost is a woman wearing clothing that would have been worn at the turn of the Twentieth Century. He claims to have personally see her, multiple times, in or near the gossip room. Another says the ghost is male and can sometimes be seen in the upstairs window smoking a pipe. I have not seen or heard any ghost but I think it would be fun to partake in a city-wide ghost tour which I heard they have done in the past.
As you can see the cats had plenty of space to run around or just hide if they wanted personal space. Even so, I think they are happy here in our Florida home too. Our next task is to find a larger vehicle so we can transport them more comfortably. But that is something I won’t have to worry about until the summer.

The house is wonderful – so many interesting features you would only find in older houses – lots of fun “nooks and crannies” and big rooms. I know the cats are loving all that space to wander around in. I’m sure you’re glad you have everything moved in now so it’s “easier” to head back to Florida for a few months. The video worked, and the house is fantastic! Lovely woodwork and so spacious! Of course, that does make it harder to heat. So I understand wintering in FL! I don’t think I could take the cold up north now.

took me a minute to figure out how to use the “wheel” to the top ; at one point I was looking at the sky; for awhile…oh well; and watching on the work PC so no sound, but the house is AWESOME !!!! I hope someone watches over it for you… besides the two ghosts 🙂 while your away.

I think so. The lady has lived there for over fifty years. She told me about the dean of the college.
A really nice house and lots of room for you and the cats to do what you like. They do make what are called shorty tubs which are less than 60″ to put in the master bath. Or you can use a membrane and wet bed tile to build as you like. I have put them in and torn them out due to problems when I was renovating homes. If done correctly they last. If not… You can also use copper instead of membrane which may be a bit expensive and you have to find someone who can do it. That may be a dying art. I still have some big irons that are used for joints somewhere in my ancient tool pile. Thanks for the tour. We can see the furs love it
That is something to think about. We could also cut into the wall that is a walk-in closet if Rose could stand to lose part of the closet. 🙂

Can you imagine what you’d have to pay to have that quality of woodwork done these days? Lucky for you no one ripped it out to “upgrade” the place. Of course, it is, as you noted, registered as a historic place, limiting what people can (or should!) do to change it.
This kind of home is only for rich people nowadays. Someone did cover the floors with carpet at one point but thankfully that was not the case when we bought it.
Lucky you! Carpet probably helped the wood floors underneath stay in better condition.

Cool house! And even cooler that Frankie helped with the tour. Somebody died in the garage here, my human found out long after she moved in. Apparently, the previous owner had a gay lover who shot himself there. I don’t think it’s haunted, though.

Thanks for the walk-and-talk through your house. I love to tour homes, especially older ones like yours. I like the idea of pocket doors. As for ghosts in the house, it is said, you leave them alone, they’ll leave you alone. Also, ghosts don’t like too much change. They might embrace your wife’s idea of swapping the shower enclosure for a bathtub. An old-style, footed bathtub would look good, but they can be expensive too. 🙂
