Needy Cat Chris

Chris does nap with Puck more now than when this post was written and even Frankie lets him be close now, but he is still the most needy cat of human attention that I have ever seen. I also predicted that a new cat (think Frankie) probably wouldn’t like Chris.

Bad Cat Chris

Chris on my lap Chris on my lap – Not my best photograph but…

As I write this, Chris is napping on my lap. Oops… I disturbed him reaching for my phone to photograph him. I was able to get one bad picture before he disappeared.

There is a point to mentioning this. Chris has sought more attention from Rose and I since Tigger passed away. That is not to say he didn’t want attention before, it just seems like he has become even more needy lately.

Chris has always sought attention from other cats and received it. Usually he would lie down on top of or between two other cats, who would at first be annoyed with him but then would settle into washing his ears or something. This happened often with Tigger and Abbey who would be sleeping together and then would be suddenly awakened by Mr. Rudeness himself.

Now, all the cats we introduced…

Mommy sez sis Lexi was like dat specially after a loss of one of her kitty playmates. Altho’ there’s a huge age difference tween us we do get along very well. But we generally don’t curl up togevver. But mommy sez she’s never really had any cats dat did. They’ve all sought out more himan affection. Course it kuld also have to do wiff da fact dat she raised us all on a bottle, and we associate more wiff a human than udder kitties. Sissy only had one littermate survive, but she wasn’t dat cwazy ’bout him even afur hims was dopted out, and since me left meez littermates gladly when mommy came and met me, she figgers me wasn’t “part of da gwoup”. Me had been da runt and born almost a full day after da rest of meez litter of 11. We hope y’all manage to work out sumfin’ fur Chris. Him’s purrobly happieer than you think.

It’s pawssible. Mommy specialized in dat when she volunteered. She sed most bottle fed kitties or kitties weaned too early were generally very human oriented. After all dat’s who they impurrinted with. Stead of seein’ a furry, hissy, meowy mommy, they had 2 leggeds to learn from. Peeps used to line up fur mommy’s kitties, cuz they were lookin’ fur twue lap kitties and knew dat’s zactly what they was gettin’. So guess yous shuld just give him sum extwa luvvin’ and settle in fur a lap full of cat. MOL

I have read that kittens with human contact before six weeks old were friendlier to humans than if they had contact after six weeks and I think the earlier the better. I’ve also heard that puppies who have contact with cats are friendlier to them as adults.

Yep, weez heard dat as well, and furmly believe dat to be da case. Course mommy dusn’t have much sperience wiff havin’ an animal come to her much older than 6 weeks, so we can only speak of what we know and have seen and read.

I wonder too. 🙂 Actually Rose decided she wanted a female Bengal or Snowshoe cat but Frankie was very affectionate to Rose and won her over… until we got him home.
