Throwback Thursday: And the Winners are… The Shelter Cats

This post was from November 2014. It has been a while since I thought of Chris’s old shelter. If I were a cat in need of a home, that is one shelter I would want to stay at.

A wonderful flashback……looks like Ellen gifted everyone at the shelter with a new toy including Chris! Ellen is the sweetest and most kind cat lady I’ve ever known – her generosity knows no bounds. She and her husband are the couple we have the pleasure of meeting every year we’ve gone to Maine for vacation. It’s the highlight of our trip (in addition to the lobster of course!).

Ellen and her husband are very special people……as for me – well I was in Clearwater for YEARS but way before I knew you. At least the internet lets us all stay in touch even though we are miles and miles apart.

That was so sweet of Ellen to help all those kitties! And to you for thinking of that shelter.nWhen I still had kitties, we got several of her toys and some other stuff too. Pipo & Minko loved them all!

I agree. When I lived in Myrtle Beach I volunteered with the Humane Society, but I did not like how their shelters were run. Every cat was alone and could not interact with others. I decided to volunteer with Sav-R-Cats instead. There, many of the cats are not even in cages and many others are let out of their cages while staff is there. Yes, the odds of spreading diseases are greater but that is true with humans, too. Should we keep humans alone in their houses?

Ellen is pretty amazing. Our cats received some of her homemade toys a few years back. Every once in a while, I still see the turkey leg toy she sent.
