I wonder if it would help to never open a door all the way when you first turn the knob. Just open it a tiny crack and let the cat dart for it, and you catch him because he can’t get out through such a small opening.

I am very grateful that none of our cats are runners. A couple have ventured onto the deck only to turn back around. Kommando and Sgt Stripes, the only ones to have come in from outside, have shown no interest in going back out.
It looks like Frankie has an ear notch, like he was once part of a TNR colony. I don’t know. Maybe he was in a fight. I just know he loves the outdoors.
