Thirteenth Blogiversary

I got a notification this morning that today is my thirteenth blogiversary. I wasn’t prepared to write anything, but I found a screenshot that I saved from an internet site called The Wayback Machine, which saves websites from the past. Fortunately, I saved this because when I went there now, I encountered an error when I entered BadCatChris.com.

I am amazed I lasted this long. I think it’s the community that’s built around blogging that inspires me to continue. Even though I have never met anyone in person, I feel as though I have made many friends.

As I was writing this, I tried The Wayback Machine again and it worked. You can see it here: https://web.archive.org/web/20120704100518/https://badcatchris.com/ It doesn’t show every page. but it has some throughout time.

ConCATulations! Like you, we began casually, did not expect to be around that long. But you are so spot on, you begin to “connect”, make virtual friends, and though not meeting (though we’ve been privileged to meet nearly a dozen!) you just keep going and going and … and it becomes and important and fun part of your life. We didn’t “discover” you until sort of recently, but happy to have done so! So hope you’ll continue to stick around for many more years … paws up!

Congratulations on your blogaversary! “Time flies when you’re having fun” doesn’t it. Pets are always entertaining – never a dull moment – Chris is a perfect example of that. I checked out The Wayback Machine – interesting! Had no idea there was an archive of old blog sites and posts…….I went back to several of your old posts – that Chris sure kept you and Rose BUSY! LOL

Happy Blogoversary! The article about Chris and the plumber made me think about my dad. He did not start out as a cat lover. In fact, he would chase them off our porch if they ventured near. (We lived in post-war suburbia, so there were a lot of neighbors.) At any rate, one day he comes home and tells us about the cute kitten that got into his toolbox when he was at a customer’s house. (He worked for Detroit Edison.) Next thing you know, he was welcoming the neighbor’s cat. We finally adopted a kitten from someone my friend knew. My dad and Tigger were inseparable for the next 16 years.

Congrats on 13 years!! We are in year 11…

We used to be on Catster and Dogster until they closed, started there in 2009, and I have a lot of that on the wayback machine, too. Never thought I would still be doing blogging this long, but as you say, we’ve made a lot of great virtual friends, and I feel as though we are all together like a big family.

Let us work on the next many years!

Mom just discovered the Wayback Machine a couple of months ago and was delighted to see this archive. So you all are about six weeks ahead of us as bloggers. We will have our 13th blogoversary in July. The average blog supposedly lasts about two years, but we pet bloggers seem to be made of stronger stuff, and Mom says she believes it is because of what a caring and compassionate community we are. Though we have never met, we, of course, consider you good friends. Thanks for the look back. To 13 more years! Happy 13th blogoversary!!

The pet blogging community is amazing. I’ve had the chance to meet several bloggers, and it is so nice to meet them as there isn’t the whole awkwardness of meeting a complete strange. We all know each other somewhat through our pets.
