While on a walk with Frankie this morning we encountered a group of Peacocks.
I looked up the name for a group of Peacocks and were presented with multiple choices. My favorite was a ostentation, but they can also be called a pride, muster, or party. I also learned that a group of female peacocks, or fowls in general, would be called a bevy. I believe these were all female.
Frankie was remarkably calm, although I did have to restrain him once.
I wonder what he was thinking. Those look delicious but too big to hunt? They’d be fun to chase but look at the size of the beaks and claws?
I think he might have been in for an unpleasant surprise if he wasn’t on a leash.
You’re probably right
Just when I was thinking how calm Frankie was while watching the peacocks, he tried to get them! He did good, though.
Yes. I expected much worse.
Now that’s some really big time Bird-TV!
It was in 3D too. 🙂
we iz gonna go wif “party” peacock party!!!! have yoo herd them screech!!???? they cood scare dee piddle owt ov ya
Party is good too.
Amazing ! That’s one of the most impressive Bird TV we’ve ever seen ! Purrs
Thanks. It was pretty cool in person.
Well that was something different to see.
It was interesting.
If these were dudes and not pea hens, we’d definitely have to go with ostentation. Frankie was quite well behaved, especially as it was four against one. We think he would have been the loser in a face to beak confrontation. Yes. I think Frankie might have been surprised.
WOW….now that’s a “different” kind of sight to come upon!
Hugs, Pam
Yes. I’m used to seeing cats and dogs.
Three’s a crowd, four ~ no way, says Frankie! Can’t help but wonder what his movements may have been had any one of them spread out those glorious tail feathers … he was a remarkably restrained fellow. And yes: ostentatious, totally right. (but where, oh when, oh why did peacocks land in a Florida suburb?)
I don’t know how they ended up near us. I never saw them before yesterday.
What an amazing group to encounter! Just think if they had unfurled those beautiful feathers.
Yes. I hope I see them again.
Goodness me! Are they wild?
Yes. They just showed up in our neighborhood.
How bizarre and wonderful!
It’s pretty cool.
I had difficulty loading the video, but I can imagine the overwhelming desire to attack the giant birds. My cats have learned to leave alone our parrots, who have demonstrated their beak skills on the cats.
I knew someone who had a cat and an African Grey. The bird took no crap from the cat.
Yup, that’s the way of it. I doubt an regret would, either.
What a fabulous walk that was!
It sure was.
