Frankie Gets Aggressive

I took Frankie out for a walk Saturday morning. Since I started a new job on Thursday I am not able to take him out every day, and he was really hounding me to go outside.

After about fifteen minutes we came upon one of the same cats that we saw recently with pretty much the same result.

After this incident, the other cat was hiding so I thought it best to pick Frankie up and move him away from the area. As I was carrying him I passed a neighbor who commented on Frankie’s cuteness. I told her I was carrying him because of aother cat.

She said, “Oh, that’s Sampson.” I could be wrong about the name but it was the name of an ancient warrior. So now I know the other cat is male. What surprises me is that Frankie would be the aggressor since we were on the other cat’s home turf.

I put Frankie down and we wondered for another fifteen minutes or so. My wife and I were heading out soon so I needed to get Frankie home. I was willing to let him walk home but he was going in the wrong direction and my efforts to turn him around failed.

The only thing left to do was pick him up and carry him home. So I picked him up and started walking. Frankie was upset and started hissing. I said, “Frankie, don’t hiss at me!”

“Hssssssssssss,” was his response.

I don’t know what made me think kissing him on the top of the head would calm him down. Instead, he twisted and launched both sets of claws into my face.

I dropped him to the ground and yelled at him. I won’t repeat my words here. I then picked him up and continued home. I could feel blood flowing down both sides of my face. He got me next to my right eye and just above my mouth on the left side. I worried that they might be deep scratches that would scar my face.

When I got home my wife was shocked to see my bloody face. I told her what happened and she said, “That’s it! Frankie is not going outside anymore.”

I then wiped the blood off my face and was relieved to see that both wounds were more like punctures instead of scratches.

I don’t think I will stop taking Frankie outside but I do think he could use a time out right now.

Frankie probably got amped up seeing the other cat. Glad to her you say that you realize he still needs some outdoor time though. The change in your schedule may have put him off too, messing up “his” routine. Glad you were ok 1

I always seem to get scratched across my stomach as my cats use their back claws to jump off my lap, but purposely scratching your face…😬 I’m glad it turned out to be not too serious. Frankie was really ticked off, wasn’t he?!

Oh my word, what a story! I think Mary is probably right, and Frankie got angsty at the sight of the other cat and the kiss on his head took him by surprise. Are you ok? How is your face?

If it’s any consolation (probably not), I went through my adolescence with what looked like self-harm marks and in fact they were the work of my mum’s psycho tortoiseshell, Missy. I hope you heal soon!

Turf issues most often do lead to a little bloodshed (either cat or human!). Hope your punctures heal with no scars…..battle wounds shouldn’t be on the guy who’s taking the cat out for a walk!!

OMG thank goodness you are ok!!! Hoping you washed those scratches really, really well. Something spooked Roary the other day when he was sitting with me and he accidentally scratched the daylights out of my thigh. Damn it hurt!! The video of Frankie reminds me of what Levi does when we see another dog when we are out walking. He becomes SUPER aggressive. He’s great with the dogs at daycare, but the dogs that LIVE where we live he is AWFUL!

Ouch! I hope the scratches heal up well and quickly. I mean, you can’t even say, “You should see the other guy…” The other guy is FINE! #rude

Hope you cleaned your wounds really well. They become infected so easily. Frankie has no idea why he is in time-out. Unfortunately “punishment” is lost on cats. Best to turn around immediately the next time you and Frankie discover the other cat. Hope you heal quickly. Thank you. Yeah I really didn’t expect Frankie to learn anything. I just didn’t want to take him out on Saturday and have my wife scold me for being a pushover.

We think he didn’t do it on purrpose, it was just that heat of the moment, but sure we feel sorry for you, as it really hurts, not only the claws in your face, but also the feeling deep inside what it evokes in someone. Healing Pawkisses for a speedy recovery🐾😽💞
