Chris has always been a stubborn cat. It has always been an impossible challenge to get Chris to behave in a way that we want him to behave. Usually the problem is trying to get him to stop doing something but sometimes getting him to do something can be equally difficult. Like the other day when I was trying to vacuum and he refused to move from his spot. Most cats are afraid of the vacuum but Chris is much more concerned with hanging out near his food bowl (which I picked up before vacuuming).
Who else has a stubborn cat? Or should I ask who doesn’t have a stubborn cat? I don’t think dogs are as stubborn as cats but I’m sure they are out there too.

This is so funny! He won’t even look at you!
He was in a mood.
OMC…Giulietta is like that with the vacuum. Does not phase her. Calista Jo is the most stubborn of our cats, but they all are. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer & Kizmet
I think the stubbornness is part of what makes them cats.
I know a few dog breeds who are per definition stubborn, the most infamous might be the Dachshund. Those are cats in Wiener-Form (I mean the sausage, you heathens) – and you need a lot of patience to teach them to behave.
Beagles are stubborn, too. And Jack Russels!
Ah, yes. My grandparents had a Dachshund when I was a child.
My paternal GPs had a Dachshund when I was a kid. Ill-tempered dog, though it was never mean to me. My grandmother always said…”You could put one arm around her but not two. She would start to growl.” Then, later on, they got a Schnauzer. That one wasn’t ill-tempered, it was vindictive, straight up. If she left the house, he would retaliate by pooping & peeing, even if he’d been out prior to her leaving. He did it for spite…and did it routinely for 19 years.
My grandparents had a neighbor with a chihuahua which was the meanest dog I have ever encountered.
LOL!
Our Angel Zoe was like that too, but she was known to slap the vacuum if it annoyed her too much.
That was very proactive of her. 🙂
Rumpy could give a whit about the vacuum.

Thanks. To you too.
Hee! Hee! Hissy Old Licorice used to roll in front of the vacuum. You could NOT continue until you got the upholstery brush out and vacuumed him! It was a real pain if you were trying to do a “quick” touch up before someone came over! Chris has always reminded me of him. The current cats here are wussy!
I wish my Ollie would let me vacuum him. He’s 20lbs and nearly scared of his own shadow.
Frankie is also not a “wuss” but Floki runs and hides when I take the vacuum out of the closet.
There’s no way I woulda stuck around when there’s a vacuum. ~Ernie
If you were here I would have a clean rug. 🙂
Dogs are DEFINITELY less stubborn!
That’s what I thought.
That is too funny. The most stubborn cat we ever had was our angel Prancie, also a ginger.
Maybe it’s a ginger thing.
He clearly would not be bullied by a mere machine. 😆
No, not Chris.
Wow, that is the height of stubbornness! Even I don’t like the vacuum much.
I don’t like the vacuum much either, Summer. 🙂
That’s so hilarious…….the minute Teddy hears the vacuum being pulled out of the closet he goes to the basement. He knows he’s safe down there! Chris is DARING you to vacuum his tail into the machine. HAHAHAHA
Hugs, Pam
Teddy is like Floki.
You are like me, C. Mom has to vacuum around me. Then when I get up, there’s a dog-hair-throw-rug left behind and she has to get the vacuum back out. The robot vacuum also works around me. I’m pretty sure it draws me into the floor plan like a piece of furniture for next time.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
That’s funny.
When Snoops hears the vacuum, she waits to see where it’s headed before deciding whether to leave. No point wasting unneeded energy I guess
No point in running to the same room as the vacuum.
Excellent point
How old is Chris now? My angel bobo started losing his hearing and the vacuum no longer bothered him.
Chris is almost twelve but I have videos of him not being bothered by the vacuum from years ago. Here is one from 2013. https://youtu.be/OMhRAeQxh6M
