The Hard Part of Going on Vacation

Here is a post for Throwback Thursday from almost six years ago. We were going on a week-long cruise plus an extra day to get to Port Canaveral and visit my wife’s dad. That was a long time to be away from our cats.

Bad Cat Chris

We took out the suitcases for our upcoming vacation and, as expected, all the cats had to lie on top of them. It happens every time. I think they know what is coming and they want to make sure we know that they don’t want to be left home again.

Cats on suitcase We’re going with you.

Cat on suitcase I’m staging a sleep in until you agree to take us with you.

I hate leaving them alone for so long. We do have someone who will come in twice a day but that won’t be the same for them. Honestly, I don’t worry about the diminished attention they will get. They have each other and they can survive a week with little human attention.

even if you had boarded the crew, you would still have had worries about what was going on there at the “cat spa” .

it’s what “parents’ do……worry….and we will continue to do so

I have days when I’m at work when all the what if’s set in so you’re not alone in this 🙂

We don’t even use our front door anymore. I have two escape artists–one has gotten out twice and come flying back inside. We come and go through the garage and make sure everything is locked up before we open the kitchen door. That is my greatest fear–they they will run out and not come back. I hear your fear!

The garage is in great buffer zone. We built a screened in porch on our last home which was also a good buffer zone. Unfortunately we can’t do anything like that here.

Our peeps won’t go on vacation and leave us, mostly because I have to have 4 meds twice a day. They do small day trips, or at least they used to until the Covid thing.

We gave up going anywhere years ago because I can’t stand to be without the kitties even if my mom will stay with them.
