We made it through another move and we still have three cats. The bad news is that they are stuck inside without a catio.
The time leading up to the move went well for the cats. I thought they would be more stressed but they seemed to enjoy investigating all the changes.
Floki was not as bold but he was less nervous than I expected. I did feel bad for Frankie’s new favorite spot because I brought boxes to the new house during the week before the move and Frankie’s basket had to be lowered until there was nowhere to put it.
The movers were here at 8:00 a.m a week ago on Saturday. We moved most everything out of the catio and then put the cats out there while the movers emptied the house.
When they finished Rose took Floki in her car and I took Chris and Frankie in my car. I put Chris in front because his carrier was the biggest and put Frankie in the back seat.
Frankie was good but Chris was much more of a whiney baby than I expected. He cried practically the entire twenty-minute car ride. I posted a video below but Youtube rotated my video sideways with no option to rotate it back so it is what it is.
When we got to the house we had to keep them in one of the bedrooms until the movers finished and then we let them out to explore the house. Chris and Frankie were excited and explored everywhere while Floki hung out under the bed. You can see a brief glimpse of Floki at around the four-minute mark.
The new home has a Florida room with big windows that let in more sunlight than our last home, which had awnings that kept much of the sun out. As you probably know, cats love lying in the sunbeam.
Of course, it not always sunny in the Sunshine State.
My wife thought it would be a good idea to put curtains up but I thought it would ruin the view. She said they were sheer curtains and they were transparent so it would be no different than looking through the window without curtains. I said, “of course there is a difference.” If there was no difference than why are we wasting time and money putting them up? I didn’t actually say the last part.
I did open the curtains in the corner just to be a rebel.
That’s it for now. I’m sure I will have more stories to tell as we continue to unpack and settle in.
I’m sure you’re glad the move is over and it doesn’t sound like you moved too far from your last home. The Florida Room is great for the cats – they lost their catio but gained a lot more sun!

It is a relief to have the moving part over but there is still much work to be done.
Your wife seems to want to tell you something about her relationship with the cats …
Never heard of a Florida Room before. Looks like that’s going to be a great hang out for the cats.
They only have them in Florida. My mom has an Arizona room. 😁
I wonder if I have a Texas room? Something to ponder.
If you are in Texas probably yes. 🙂
How is the Florida room different from the Catio? They both look like great places for kitties to hang out. Mom and I agree with you about the curtains. The sunshine is so awesome in there, it’s like its own form of décor! #happywifehappylife
Love and licks,
Cupcake
The Florida room is glassed in and air conditioned. The Cato was screened and not air conditioned.
Glad everyone survived the move. That Florida room looks pretty pawsome…those windows are amazing. We bet the cats will really like that and forget all about a catio.
Thanks. I hope so but Chris and Frankie both want to run out the door right now.
I like the sheer curtains. I am glad it went well.
Thanks. After a week we ate almost able to relax.
This looks like a nice, bright place!
Yes, it is brighter than our last place. I like that.
Whew, I’m tired just from reading this! Moving is a drag in general, but at least it looks like you have plenty of new places for exploring. Enjoy!
Thanks. We have more room here so it was worth the trouble.
Looks as if Chris and Frankie wanted to make certain nothing was forgotten at the old house. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
I was mostly concerned with loosing one of them.
Your kitties look content in the catio! I wish you a happiness in your new home. I just wrote about my big move to a tiny little cottage and how it impacted my cat crew. Lots of moving going on. By the way, I like the piece that looks like a wine rack in one of the photos, and I’m with you on the sheer curtains. LOL. Cheers!
Thanks. I was just thinking since the cats no longer have their catio, they should at least have some good views. the wine rack has a nice piece but we can’t put in wine there because the cats will knock it off. That happened after we bought the piece but fortunately the bottle didn’t break.
The Florida room looks pretty cat-friendly. Not as good as the catio, of course. 🙂
No, the catio was technically outside but the Florida room has nice, big windows. I just lacks the smells and sounds.
Cats are big on smells. 🙂
Yes, they are.
Wow. You just moved two years, ago.
Chris looks SO much like my Ollie. The only differences are, Ollie has a bent right ear (from his previous home and fighting with other cats), thumbs and his paws aren’t white. They are, basically, built the same way…tubby. LOL!
Chris is addicted to kibble. I feed them wet food but he barely touches it.
Maybe it’s an orange kitty thing. Ollie loves his kibble. I’ve struggled to find wet food he likes. SO picky. He does like to beg for my fresh fish meals. If I cook fish for myself, he is right there, meowing…loudly. Worse than a dog…
All of our cats love chicken. If we eat any kind of a dinner with chicken in it we have three vultures standing over us.
LOL!
