The year I started this blog, I wrote about Four O’clock Chris. Now it’s Frankie’s Turn.

Every morning at around 4:00, give or take fifteen minutes, Frankie starts bothering me. It’s subtle at first, maybe he’ll walk across me or bite my cheek. sometimes he will bite me just over the eyes, which hurts. That’s when I will turn around and try to go back to sleep. Frankie will counter by either digging at the sheets or stepping over me so he can get at my face again.
The next phase is the sneezing. You haven’t lived until a cat sneezes on you in the middle of the night. It is almost like he is sneezing on purpose.
Often, he will settle down for a short time if I ignore him, but almost always, between 4:30 and 4:45, the meowing starts. He has had enough, and I must get up or else. So, I get up and feed him.
Later, when 9:00 p.m. rolls around and I’m tired and ready for bed, my wife calls me an old man.

I laughed at the ‘sneezing cat’ part, but I have been on the receiving end of that. Not fun at all.
Not at all. š
What is it with them? Here it is toe nibbles, and yes, under the sheets. But OMC I’ll take the 4 o’clock hour cause for June it’s consistently 3:00 am and has been for years now. I gave up long ago … we are now “early to bed/early to rise”.
Maybe that’s why older people go to bed early. Because they have cats, not because they are old.
Purrsistent comes to mind!
Yup. š
Ouch! At least when Ted wants me awake he just meows – I’m a light sleeper and he knows it so a “little” meow works just fine.
Hugs, Pam
What time does Teddy want you awake?
Usually anywhere from 3:30AM to 4AM……(YAWN)
Cats are early birds.
Maybe that is another reason why we never let our kitties into the bedroom…and not our doggies, either. Yes we miss out, but we didn’t want to cause allergic flareups. (petcretary is allergic to most cats, but somehow the orientals, eg: meezers, didn’t bother her, but she didn’t want to push the issue or she would be the sneezer!)
We locked them out when Chris was alive because Chris was way too annoying all night. Despite the Four O’clock Chris post, he was really all o’clock Chris. After he died we started leaving our door open.
100% he is doing this on purpose.
I don’t doubt it.
Cutest alarm clock ever!
Yeah but set for the wrong time.
I am lucky that my cats usually let me sleep until 7.
What’s your secret.
There’s no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast.
Wouldn’t that be nice?
That is such a sweet picture of him. The cats used to wake me up. A few years ago, I started taking a medication that makes me sleepy. They’ve finally given up and wait downstairs. All together. Then they run for the kitchen.
That is the first good medication side effect I heard of. š
