I was outside with Frankie in our backyard a couple of weeks ago. We were at the south end of our property while the man who lives two houses south of us stood outside at the north end of his property. I don’t remember all that was said, but he did tell me he was allergic to cat pee. It was his subtle way of telling me to keep my cat off his property.
I wanted to ask him, “How do you know that? Did a cat pee on you?” Instead, I took the high road and told him Frankie has a litterbox and just likes to come outside sometimes. The truth is, Frankie does feel the need to “mark” some of the bushes he comes across, including the ones in front of the man’s house. Since then, I encourage Frankie to move along when we pass his house. “C’mon, Frankie. A cat hater lives here.”
We have other haters in the neighborhood too. These two signs are from houses across the street from each other.

I understand not wanting poop in your yard, but people here are very good about picking up after their dogs. I’m sure these people are just miserable, and I feel a bit sorry for them.
The problem is there are many miserable people in this world, and that is one of the reasons I am reluctant to just let Frankie come and go as he pleases. Many years ago my sister-in-law cared for some stray cats near her home and someone poisoned one of them. It cost her over $500 to have a vet treat the cat. Fortunately, he survived.
Most people are good, but the bad sure do keep us on our toes.

Have you noticed in talking with people, when you mention cats, the knee jerk reaction is usually “I’m allergic to cats.” Blows my mind.
Yes. It is amazing how many people are allergic to cats.
Just to be fair…we totally hate the haters like that. I’m afraid our Dad would stop and poop in his yard.
That would be funny. 😀
Very interesting to be allergic to cat pee. Why you didn’t ask how he knows that.
I was tempted but didn’t want to start trouble with my neighbor.
I’m allergic to people who say they’re allergic to cat pee. 🙂
Hugs, Pam
Hahaha. I with you on that one.
I’m with Pam. 🙂
Me too.
Oh for mousin’ out loud. EVEN IF some kitty or doggy (’cause doggies are known to do such things) peed on his plants, how does he know it was Frankie? Has he got it on tape? MOUSES!
Peeps here are pretty good ’bout pickin’ up after doggies, too, but once, Peepers spotted a neighbour from a few houses away wait ’til the doggy she was pet sittin’ did his (or her, she didn’t know) thing at the end of our driveway, look both ways to see if anyone was watchin’, then take a stick and push the poopies into the ditch. Now what would your neighbour have done ’bout that? I know what I would have done. I would have gone and peed on her! But then, I’m a cat. MOUSES!
I don’t like the haters but I also don’t like the people that give fuel to the haters.
Anyone who mistreats an animal should be punished with the same treatment…rat poison (if that’s what you sister’s neighbor used) would be particularly appropriate.
I agree.
There are a lot of horrible people in this world which is why I prefer to stay home with my kitties.
I understand that.
These are people who can and will harm a pet dog or cat if allowed to wander outside. I never let my cats roam outside for that reason. On top of it, my kitty now (and his late brother, Dougy), are/were black. Strangely enough, there are people stupidly afraid of black cats. They can be a mortal danger to black cats.
It is a shame because, as I said, most people are good but the bad really make things difficult.
Exactly.
The world IS full of miserable people and the MSM just loves to showcase them.
Poisoning pets/animals should come with harsh penalties. I know some animals that are friendlier than some people.
In some areas the penalties for animal abuse has become stronger but there is room for improvement.
you are right that those are miserable people, but I agree with you, better to be safe than sorry. Miserable people can also be vicious!
They sure can.
If they weren’t complaining about the animals, they’d be complaining about something else.
No doubt.
